Twelve-year-old Lewis Martin, living with a previously lethal disease (SMA), became the first child in the world to receive a new, effective medication through a specializing catheter designed by a physician that had been evaluating Lewis at the Clinic for Special Children. His story is one of hope, medical ingenuity, and the love and dedication of a group of physicians including CSC’s Medical Director, Dr. Kevin Strauss, who refused to give up hope.
